I love collecting the Julep birthstones, so I collect them all and not just my birthstone. June’s offering sold out while it was still in the Secret Store. Some may want to order this the first day of the month when it opens up in the secret store to get it before it sells out. The problem is they charge the full $11.20 Maven price in the secret store, and promo codes do not apply.
If you wait it out a little, even the colors that sell out will usually return. It can take some time though. As a Maven, I get free shipping with every order, so I could order the gemstone each month and call it a day. That is not my style though, because I live for a deal. Mavens get offer codes in each box.
Whenever the birthstone I want sells out, I stalk the Julep site until it comes back. Julep really needs to get an in-stock notification system. I never saw Heidi, the June Birthstone, return the entire month of June. The July polish was in stock every time I checked in July, but I try not to buy the polishes out-of-order. If I cannot get my hands on an earlier month, my collection halts. No sense in collecting later colors if my collection is incomplete. That way, I can also end my collection permanently if stock never returns on the polish I left off with. Luckily, Heidi returned when I checked for the August birthstone.
That meant I was able to buy June, July, and August in one order. June went out of stock and has stayed out of stock since, so I got very lucky with the timing. I am no longer stocking June, but I am still stalking March in the hopes to replace her and happen to notice June missing as I stalk.
For the three birthstones purchased on 08/05/15, I used code ALLYOURS. That gave me $15 off a $30 purchase. If you can find items to perfectly equal $30, you would get a 50% discount. That is pretty solid. The code is valid through 08/31/15, so you can use it yourself if you’d like. Of course, I suggest you look at all offers before settling on one to make sure you get the best deal. My subtotal was $33.60 ($11.20×3). The $15 discount brought the total to $18.60, which is $6.20 a polish. I prefer to purchase polishes when they’re less than $6 each, but I did not want to risk losing Heidi.
To sweeten the deal a little, I selected an add-on. Julep always offers add-ons at extremely discounted rates. These deals are usually better than buying the item with a Maven price and finding a promo code. If you see an add-on you want, jump on it. A two pack of Crystal Nail Files usually cost $36. They are on sale for $9.99. Reminder to place sale items in your wish list when you are not ready to buy. They sometimes stay on sale but are hard to find later. If they stay on sale in your wish list, it is a lot easier to add them to your cart. As an add-on, the files were $5.99.
That means I got three polishes and two nail files for $24.59. Anytime I get my items for less than $5 each, I always feel like I scored. The add-on helped me feel a little better about paying more for polish than I usually would. I already own a crystal file, which I am a fan of. From Julep, I had only tried its metal and emery board. This crystal offering from Julep is as nice as the Sephora branded one I have. My husband took the second file off my hands and has already put it to good use. Nail polish usually ships extremely slowly, but this arrived seven days after I ordered it.
Julep Heidi, named after Heidi Klum, is the June 2015 Birthstone. She is an Alexandrite, purple/teal duochrome. I am in love with this color, so she was worth the stalking and the wait. Compare this to my other purple polishes.
Julep Martina, named after Martina McBride, is a beautiful ruby colored polish. I am actually surprised she was always in stock, because she is a stunner. Reds are more readily available with Julep probably because every nail polish collector probably has a healthy lineup of reds. Compare this to my other red polishes.
Julep Betsey, named after Betsey Johnson, is a beautiful Peridot. I actually find this yellow/green color so incredibly stunning that I prefer her to Heidi and Martina, which are my favorite colors, red and purple. Betsey is also prettier than the similar color, I also own, released as the 2014 birthstone, Claudia. Compare this to my other green polishes.
My birthstone collection consists of January 2014-August 2015, although I plan to replace March 2015 as soon as possible. As long as I am a Maven and can collect the polishes in order, I will continue to collect the birthstones. If you have not already taken a look, I highly suggest you do.

I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.
