Smiley360 is an online community. It consists of influential consumers who try products and experiences for free. Brands give their products to Smiley360 who matches them to qualified community members for testing. Based on past missions and your profile, new mission opportunities are placed on your dashboard. Members are selected to take part in the mission if their short qualification surveys line up to what the study is looking for.
The more missions you complete, the more points you earn. Members with more points usually get first dibs at new missions. You choose your level of activity. Pardon my pop culture reference, but “your mission should you choose to accept it” is to take part in the studies that interest you. To complete missions, you must give honest reviews on social media.
When I was pregnant with my second son, I developed a Hiatal hernia. This is a condition where my stomach bulges up into my chest through the hiatus. Although my Doctor did not specify what type I have and I never saw the results of my colonoscopy, I am assuming I have the sliding version. My gastroenterologist said surgery to repair it was not recommended, so it is highly unlikely I have a paraesophageal Hiatal hernia. The Hiatal hernia gave me gastroesophageal reflux disease, GERD.
My condition causes severe heart burn and chest pain. When my chest first started hurting, I was afraid I was having a heart attack. It turns out that it is common in GERD sufferers according to WebMD. The first prescription I tried was Zantac. Despite taking it twice a day, me heartburn was still intense. Then, I started Prilosec, which is 90% effective. Most of the time, it relieves acid, but I still experience some. When I read that Smiley360 members could test Nexium24HR, I jumped at the chance. Finding something 100% effective would be incredible.
I replaced my daily Prilosec pill with this Nexium24HR over the counter sample for 14 straight days. The first few days taking this I felt about the same as when I take my prescription. Around day four, I realized I was having more heartburn occurrences with Nexium24HR than I do with prescription strength Prilosec. The heartburn amplified around day seven. By day 14, I was happy to be done.
These pills seemed to control about 70% of the heartburn, which is better than prescription Zantac. Living with heartburn 30% of the time is not worth ditching my prescription when I only suffer about 10% on that. I am still willing to try other medications in the hopes that something can get closer to 100%. It took about three days after restarting Prilosec before I returned to 90%. That means both this over the counter and my prescription take about three days for effects to kick in.
