I love the Ulta Days of Beauty. Twice a year, usually starting in March and September, Ulta has a 21 day sale where select brands or items are deeply discounted for one day only. During the Spring 2014 sale, I went a little overboard buying things. Spring 2015 went better. It helped that the sale this year was not as impressive as last, but there were still some great deals. There are also 21 day Love Your Hair Events twice a year, which I will cover later. Check all offers on the special event page.
I highly recommend studying the brochure, which is posted online before the sale. UltaMate members should also get a physical copy in the mail. It is a good idea to plan your purchases ahead of time, so you are ready to strike the moment the deal releases. Ulta runs on Central time, so daily steals are available right at 10pm PST. That usually means steals from the previous day disappear at 10pm, so do not plan to place an order right before bed time if you’re on the West Coast. While the deals have run a little over, Ulta has also cut them off right on time. Some deals sell out quickly, so waiting may not work anyway. The best deals are usually gone when you wake up in the morning from people who started shopping right as the day switched over.
Prior to the Spring 2014 event, I went into Ulta and swatched all three offerings. My heart was set on Candy Glow and Peach Beach. I was ordering items almost every day of the event in 2014. With Ulta’s $50 free shipping minimum, there were days when I chose not to order online to avoid a $50 purchase. During the Days of Beauty, the blushes were retailing for 50% off, $15. My plan was to get Candy Glow, but I would buy Peach Beach if I could not get Candy Glow.
I arrived around the time the store opened, but there were none left on the shelves. Ulta has a two per person limit on steals that is usually enforced online. As with all in store rules, employees can choose to enforce the rules or allow customers to break them. Seeing person after person buy handfuls was disheartening. I only wanted one! After walking out empty-handed, I called the national line to see if I can place an over the phone order. The rep told me their inventory sold out hours ago. She was nice, so I told her they should really consider selling steals without a $50 free shipping minimum. I would have ordered it at 10pm the night before had they allowed that. Then, I called all of my local stores, but it sold out everywhere.
Ever since I swatched Candy Glow, I knew I had to have it. While I wanted the deal, I knew I was not going to wait around for a deal like that to come back, so I found a 20% off promo code and purchased it directly from Too Faced. I have zero regrets on doing that, because I am in love with the blush. Seeing the blushes in the lineup for 2015 to me meant it was finally time to get Peach Beach. Ulta even listened to my request from the previous year, which I am assuming others requested as well, to allow free shipping on steals for Platinum members. At 10pm on 03/31/15, I went to the Ulta site to buy Peach Beach.
I had second thoughts about getting it that night. People familiar with Ulta’s promotions may already know that most Wednesday mornings will bring a Beauty Break. For those who are unaware, the Beauty Break is a gift with a specified minimum on a general purchase available for 4-6 hours. You can also visit the retailer page to see an up to date program description. April 1st was a Wednesday, so I wanted to see if I could get the blush and the Beauty Steal. I knew it was a risk based on what happened the year before, but I decided to chance it anyway.
I woke up to find an amazing beauty steal with any $40 Ulta purchase. It was a four piece Macadamia Professional Set with a $40 purchase. The offer included decent sizes of the Nourishing Moisture items of shampoo, conditioner, oil, and a single use hair mask. Ulta sells the oil in this size for $13.95. The shampoo and conditioner retail for $10 each. Even people like me who do not value foils could place a $33.95 value on this gift.
Whish was also offering a gift with a $20 Whish purchase. It included a Body Butter, Self Tanner, Deodorant Swipes, and a Flawless Post Shave & Wax Serum. That was the perfect time to pick up a new shaving cream. Although I had not used this specific scent, I already know and love the Whish brand. Once I tried it, I liked it much better than any Whish scent I’ve tried so far. This specific scent, Blue Agave, is exclusive to Ulta, which is why I got it. The blush I wanted was still in stock, which surprised me. Even with the blush and the free Platinum shipping, I needed to find something else for $5 to purchase to get the Beauty Break.
Even though I thought I would never buy Something About Berry, because it swatched so dark on my fair skin, I decided to go for it. Not only would I be getting it at the incredible price of $15, but it would put me over the Beauty Break minimum. I ordered Peach Beach, Something About Berry, the Whish shave cream, the Beauty Break, and the Whish specific GWP for $50. It was exciting that my risk of waiting for the Beauty Break paid off or so I thought.
You may have already noticed that my order confirmation does not include Peach Beach and wonder how I managed to get a $40 Beauty Break on a $35 purchase. The answer is simply that Ulta oversold Peach Beach, so it was canceled from my order. Thankfully, Ulta does not cancel entire orders when one item is no longer available, which I appreciate. I knew there was a chance I would not get it when I waited for the Beauty Break, so I was not overly disappointed. Sometimes when we take risks to get the best deals it pays off, but that is not always the case. On the bright side, Ulta will not cancel your GWP or Beauty Break if they remove a qualifying item from your order. That means I got all of this stuff for $35 plus tax. Still a good deal by any standard.
The best part is I love Something About Berry way more than I thought I would. It still switches pretty dark, but I really love the color on my skin tone when I use a light hand. In the swatches, the colors go from top to bottom from the pan with the bottom being a blend of all three colors.
I am wearing this blush in the following pictures. In the first, I applied with a light hand. The second was applied with a very light hand.
Ulta also had the option to add a Le Couvent Des Minimes Hiker Foot Healer Sample onto the order. I love sampling foot creams, because my feet are so dry. It is important that I try before I buy, because I do not return things. This was around the time where Ulta went from three samples to two, so the bonus brought me back to three at least. While you do not get the chance to pick your samples at Ulta, you do get to pick your type of sample. I chose the variety sampler, which included a Wella Hair oil, and a LORAC concealer.
I will continue to post offers I am aware of, so no worries if you happen upon this post after the offers above expire. If you have questions about any Ulta Coupon, I go over all types. Targeted Offers are exclusive to UltaMate Members, so I do recommend joining. New members get $10 of their first purchase with a referral. I'm Kimberly. Shopping is always more fun when I've found the best deal available, so I am always on the hunt. My father instilled that in me, and I love that I carry a piece of him. Sometimes, my husband and sons (12 and 7) let me shop for them, too. They do not use as many beauty products as I do. We can all benefit from nice products, even though their routine ends with moisturizer. That is when I can convince my 12-year-old to apply it.
